Physical Properties: Colorless transparent liquid with special odor. Unstable in the presence of water; gradually decomposes to silica in air. Miscible with organic solvents in any ratio, insoluble in water.

Synthesis Method:

1. Alcoholysis reaction of silicon tetrachloride with methanol.

2. Direct reaction of silicon powder with methanol. Usually a by-product in the direct production of trimethoxyhydrosilane.

Applications:

1. Used in the production of heat-resistant and chemical-resistant coatings, silicone solvents, and binders for precision casting; also a widely used organic synthesis intermediate.

2. Used as insulating material in electronics industry, optical glass treatment agent and coagulant.

3. Synthesis of other silane products; used in heat-resistant coatings, chemical-resistant coatings, silicone solvents, precision casting binders, and as cross-linking component in silicone adhesives and sealants.

Transportation Precautions:

Storage:

Store in a container filled with dry inert gas, in a cool and dry place, away from moisture and water. Keep away from fire and heat sources. Warehouse temperature should not exceed 37℃, keep container sealed. Store separately from oxidizers and alcohols, and do not store together. Use explosion-proof lighting and ventilation facilities. Mechanical equipment and tools that are prone to sparks are prohibited. The storage area should be equipped with leakage emergency treatment equipment and suitable containment materials.
